I wanted to drop you a quick note to commend you on the exceptional service your company provided when transporting my horse. TEP Scarlett travelled with you from Melbourne to Adelaide on Tuesday this week.
You must be proud to employ such fantastic drivers – they rang when they said they would, they arrived when they said they would, and they cared for Scarlett extremely well.
Service like this is very hard to find and it sets you apart from the others.
Many thanks again.

I have used Notable Horse Transport repeatedly over the last 5 years, for our stud, and a large range of horses. Their professional and excellent care of the horse is ‘five star'. Many of the horses have travelled three quarters around Australia, yet they arrived looking bright, in excellent health as if they have only come around the corner. Notable's efficiency in communication and punctuality makes them the premium transporters for our horse's safety and wellbeing.
I am proud to be associated with Notable Horse Transport.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the excellent care and attention that my little Holly received on her trip from NSW. The drivers are without a doubt the most caring and capable horse people I have ever met. Holly was completely green when they picked her up but through their kindness and patience she has learnt to walk in hand, walk on to a float and recognise hard feed. In my eyes these two men are the best. Holly had no stress problem after the trip and she is now eating three meals a day without batting an eyelid. I cannot praise them enough.
Every time I have used your services it has been a joy.

Just a quick note to thank your team in bringing our heavily in foal broodmare, ‘Sweet Sue' from Toowoomba (QLD) to Harvey. She arrived in perfect order thanks largely to your concern for her welfare as a 16-year-old broodmare in foal.
Whenever I rang to enquire about her welfare en-route I was given an immediate update on her condition and how she was travelling.
Many, many thanks; your efforts are very much appreciated.

Dear Prue,
Heartfelt thanks to you and everyone connected with the transport of my mare from South Australia to New South Wales last week.
She arrived stress free (more than I could say for me) and in perfect condition, and I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone.
Your up to date communication, assistance and punctuality was fantastic - no wonder you came so highly recommended to me!!!
Thanks again

I just wanted to email to say a BIG thank you for organising my colt's transportation to QLD from SA. I was just so pleased that my colt has travelled fine and well. And had arrived well and settled into his new life in Queensland.
I was so worried, but you the Notables did a fine job in getting him here, not to forget the Sydney Horse Transport as well, thank you.!

Hello Prue,
I would just like to express my gratitude for the fantastic care Styria (the Lipizzaner) received on her first ever Truck journey. 5000km is a long way to come for a baby that had never even seen the inside of a float before, let alone a truck.
She came off tired but that is to be expected, she has been happily eating and drinking and has settled well. It is a credit to your drivers that her trip seems to have been so stress free.
I have recommended Notable to a friend who is bringing a horse from Victoria shortly and should i have the need to truck a horse again, I will be a returning customer.
—Thanks again, Hannah Williams

Hi Prue,

I would just like to say a big thank you on behalf of myself and Nicole for a wonderful job you did transporting our pony from Sydney to Perth.
As you can imagine the thought of sending our little man such a long distance was quite daunting, but after speaking to Prue, our minds were out at ease. I am sure the drivers were glad ro arrive in Perth as we were continually ringing to follow their progress, and they were very obliging! From what the new owners told us, he was extremely well cared for at the Perth depot for two days until they were able to pick him up.
It is not the first time we have used Notable, our pony actually came up for Vic on Notable Transport as a yearling, and it will certainly not be the last time we will use you.
Thank you all very much again.

Just to say how reassuring it is that the tyranny of distance has been professionally overcome with your service re travelling horses. We collected our older mare en route from Sydney at Kimba, half way across Australia at 4:30am yesterday, and were delighted at the comfort in which she and the horses around her enjoyed in your facility. She walked onto our float without hesitation to complete the 2 ½ hour journey south to Port Lincoln.
Much appreciated.

Just a thank you for a great job of transporting my little colt over from the Hunter Valley. Like our other two horses that you previously brought over from Canberra, he arrived in great condition (our other two looked ready to go into the show ring when they arrived!). My little fellow was really well looked after, and it was great to get updates on the travel over.
Thanks again for a great job! I would certainly recommend you guys to anyone wanting to transport their horse.

I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with Graham from Notable Horse Transport. He picked up my horse Cindy from Terrey Hills, Sydney today and we found ourselves in quite challenging circumstances with turning the truck around in a tight turning circle. Graham was extremely obliging and helpful, keeping good humour plus his calm temper helped us all get out of a rather tricky situation.
I feel at ease knowing that you have such a great transporters working for you. This is the first time I have used a transport company and since the first instance of ringing up and getting a quote, ringing back finding out further information to Graham picking up my horse, I have been very impressed with the attention to detail, patience and the knowledge that your company has passed on.
Congratulations on such a good team.

Thank you for your huge effort in transporting our Pony Club horses to the National Championship in Victoria. Our state teams did very well both in competition and in their care of the horse skills we came home with wins and placing’s in Dressage, showjumping and Horse Trials.
Your drivers were excellent with not only the horses, but also dealing with a variety of parent sand anxious young riders. Just BRILLIANT on behalf of us lot at Pony Club. Thank you.

Service! Professionalism, dedication, care, communication and concern.
I had updates throughout Moet’s journey re all the vet checks, quarantine stays, border checks, liver Fluke, ag dept regulation paper work (which Prue and staff helped get in order and filled out!). Agistment and quarantine was all organised for me.
I cannot highly recommend Notable Horse Transport enough. I have used them several times now and will use no one else. Moet had better than the best care and attention and was treated like one of their own, greatly reducing stress.

Preparing Your Horse
Preparation for long distance transport is crucial to ensure your horse has a stress free and comfortable trip and appropriate care post travel.
Notable utilise specially designed trucks and trailers which best allow for the comfort of the horse and ensure good ventilation. Horses have access to feed and more importantly water at regular intervals, especially under the harsh conditions encountered in east-west crossings. Notable’s floats have stainless steel feed and water bins and feed and water stops are scheduled every 4 to 5 hours in transit, when the drivers change shifts.
Horses can also be closely monitored at these stops for increases in temperature or signs of ill health or discomfort.
Important information for horses travelling to Western Australia
- If your horse is shod or is having a trim, get them done a couple of weeks prior to transport. That way if the farrier pricks him or cuts him back too far there is plenty of time for the horse to recover.
- Rugs, tail bandages and boots are not recommended for long haul travel as they can cause injury when applied for such lengthy periods, especially in hot weather, due to the sweat and irritation that these cause. The floats have full length dividers to ensure that horses cannot bite or kick one another. The body heat generated by the horses on the float will keep them comfortable without the need for additional rugging. It is a good idea however to supply a rug for use at the depots, depending upon the seasonal conditions.
- Consider whether your horse may require more than an average size bay to travel comfortably. Most floats can have the bay size adjusted to allow 1.5 bays or even 2 bays for very large horses. This will ensure that your horse does not get a rubbed tail or flanks. This additional room also eases the problems with horses considered to be bad travelers.
- It is important for the owner to provide a thorough history of any idiosyncrasies of the horse or any problems or preferences in traveling or loading. Horses can travel sideways, forwards or backwards in the float and will generally find one of these options more comfortable. We generally find horses that have not traveled well in the past or travel best facing backwards, similarly horses that are prone to scrambling need to be kept off the wall.
- Horses should have the energy and protein levels of their feeds progressively reduced and the roughage increased over several weeks prior to travel and should have their workload reduced accordingly. It can prove detrimental to the horse to come direct from competition, racing, training, or illness and have it stand inactively on the float for several days.
- It is imperative that you provide any relevant information to the transport company that may assist in meeting your horse’s requirements, along with information on any medication, tranquillisers or sedatives being administered. Do not do anything out of the ordinary routine prior to travel, do not worm your horse or have its feet trimmed or shoes removed immediately prior to travel.
- It is important that you monitor your horse for a few days after travel to ensure there are no symptoms of travel sickness, watch for a raised temperature, nasal discharge, and general lethargy, coughing and/or disinterest in eating or drinking. Travel sickness can manifest itself as pleuro pneumonia, colitis or laminitis and while the reasons for the onset of travel sickness are little understood, if detected and treated promptly the horse will recover quickly but if left untreated the horse may become extremely ill and can even die.
- Travel sickness has been linked with undetected or unreported aliments that are pre-existing when the horse commences the journey. Good ventilation, regular rest breaks and hydration are also crucial in minimising the onset of travel sickness. Hygiene on the float is also important and the interiors of our floats and all feed and water bins are regularly disinfected to minimise the chance of cross infection.
